I had a perfectly good (and almost finished) post written up and then my computer decided to freeze up. *kicks it* About a week ago I got this message from Dell saying that I needed to install their support center thingy and ever since I did, I’ve had nothing but trouble… ironic, eh? Anyway, let’s see if I can remember what the hell I said the first time around. πŸ™‚

First of all… how many of you get the Lion Brand newsletter and cracked up over this one?

LMMFAO

Bwahaha… seriously? Um yeah… okay, no. Geesh…

I survived my first Black Friday (and Saturday) as a retail worker. πŸ™‚ The shop was uber busy yesterday until about 4:00 and then it was pretty slow, but the sales were quite impressive for the day if you ask me. πŸ™‚ Later in the evening a familiar face came into the shop though quickly followed by the question, “Are we allowed to hug the employees?!” Yes, Miss Kelli aka Knitterbunny was in town to judge a bunny thing this weekend and stopped by to say hi and dig through our yarn at the shop. So I got not one but two Kelli Hugs and that totally made the day!

I did however go home with a wicked migrane last night which didn’t taper off until about 10 this morning, but luckilly I didn’t work today until 1:00 so I was able to get a little bit of painless sleep before I had to be back at work. I reallllly need a massage now though… Today we were pretty darn busy again but it wasn’t quite as crazy as yesterday. I also spent a great deal of time setting up the display for the new Manos del Uruguay Silk Blend yarn which is just purrrrty. πŸ™‚ You can see the colors over at Purl Soho.com, but ours is cheaper so buy it from us instead. πŸ™‚

I don’t really have any knitting content pictures to share, but I can share some stash stuff. πŸ™‚ Last Wednesday I bought myself a treat. I’m now the proud owner of Fergie the Frog. It’s a handy little trinket holder for stitch markers, mini scissors, and other stuff needed while knitting. I wouldn’t have normally spent that much on something to hold stuff in, but I’m a frog lover and well… how could I resist? Plus it’ll be nice because for a while Devin won’t be able to figure out how to get the zipper open and therefore won’t be able to dump my stuff all over the floor. hehe… This picture doesn’t do the color justice, btw.

Fergalicious

This lovely yarn is Autunno by Di.ve and it’s all for me. πŸ™‚ I decided I needed a new scarf and perhaps some matching wrist warmers so last week after molesting this yarn I got it.

Mine!

As for stuff I don’t have pictures of… I bought some Jitterbug (my first ever purchase of the stuff! *gasp*), it’s not for me though… it’ll soon be a pair of Christmas socks for someone special. πŸ™‚ I also bought my first Alpaca… also not for me though. LOL I’m making the Maple Shawl out of a strand of Drops Alpaca held with a strand of Drops Cotton Viscose… should be lovely. Seems like there was something else, but I can’t think of it right now. πŸ™‚ Oh wait, I remember… I bought The Knitter’s Handy Book of Patterns after Suann told me that it was a good one that I needed. We didn’t have it at the shop (we do now though) so I found a used one on Amazon (oh how I love used books!) and it arrived in the mail today. πŸ™‚

Oh and check this out… πŸ™‚ About a month into working at the shop I made myself a Ghetto name tag because I didn’t have a real one. I ganked a name tag that belonged to an ex-employee and covered her name with mine. But my darling Matt finally decided today that I needed a non ghetto one. πŸ™‚

Ghetto Fabulous…

Ghetto Fab...

Official…

Wee!

Thanks, Matt!

Thanksgiving came and went without any major family drama so that was lovely. πŸ™‚ Ravyn and Wesley decorated the dinner table for us this year and made personalized name cards. πŸ™‚ Wesley made mine…

Aww

But his was the best of all of them… hehe…

*giggle*

More pictures will be in my photo blog later tonight for your viewing pleasure after I have the chance to upload them. πŸ™‚

And on that note, I’m outta here! I might do some charity knitting with Sarah and the other Guild Girls tomorrow, but that depends on the status of my poor neck and back tomorrow. πŸ™‚

Happy Knitting!

Weird pooling

I’m almost done with these. I’m a little disappointed in the pooling of the stripes on the first one though (the one on the right) now that the second one looks so much better. I may have to make a third one and see if it goes better. πŸ™‚ I’m not real concerned with things matching up totally, I think it’s better when they’re different, but yeah, these are almost too different.

Kid wristwarmers are a super fast knit though… I love it. I started the second one last night just before Idol came on at 8 and by the time I was leaving Shawn’s just after 11 I was almost done. I would’ve stayed and finished it but she had to work this morning because she has a job and well… I let her go to bed. LOL

She didn’t get any knitting done, but she did do her taxes. LOL We’ve got Knit Night all planned out though. As you may recall, Knit Night was originally Lost & Knit Night. Then when Lost went on Hiatus it was Day Break and Knit Night. Now, it’s going to be Water Aerobics followed by Bones, Idol, Lost & Knit Night. LOL We’re dorks.

I also decided last night while looking through the stitch dictionary over at Lion Brand that I’m going to attempt to learn some of the stiches there. There are some great ones over there and they don’t look too hard, I just haven’t ever done much more than your basic knit, purl, YO, drop stitch and stuff. I also want to learn to do cables but yeah… holding off on that for a while. πŸ™‚

Anywho… happy knitting!

WIP: Ravyn Wristwarmers

I just discovered that my laptop does in fact have a slot for my photo card. I’m so freaking happy about this that I could passionately kiss everyone who works for Dell right now. Hehe… Now I don’t have to steal my mother’s camera cord nor do I need to buy a new one. Whoot!

And, now I can show you my WIP. I think I mentioned I was making Ravyn some wristwarmers, and I finished one yesterday. Here she is trying it on tonight to make sure it fits (it did! Woo!).

Ravyn Wristwarmer #1

The pattern is my own, I worked in the round and just sort of eyeballed it until I thought it was the correct length and width for her cute little first grade hands. The yarn is Sassy Stripes by Moda-Dea that was on clearance for like a buck one day at Meijer. πŸ™‚ I have no idea what the colorway is, but I just got some Stormy tonight because it’s pretty and will make fabulous green and white socks. The yarn is better for adult sized projects because the stripes end up laying out better, but for a first time project I thought it was a nice cheap yarn to fool around with, and it has pink in it which is a requirement for most 7 year olds. πŸ™‚

I also got two balls of Tweed by N.Y. Yarns which is in colorway #6. It was more than half off so I figured I had to buy it. I love clearanced yarn!

Delurk Yourself!

Are you a lurker? Leave me a comment, I want to know if you read this blog!

No pictures to show off right now because I keep forgetting to take my mom’s camera cord. The one thing I wish my laptop had was a card reader. :op I’m officially back in the world with a computer. Whoot! I’m also officially back in school. Last semester… yay! :o) I have to go downtown and blow a bunch of money on more textbooks this afternoon. *cries*

As for knitting, I’m working on a few different things right now. I’m still working on a shawl for my sister. The one I last posted about did end up being finished but then I decided it was too small and would have been more of a “boob warmer” than a shawl so I started another one. LOL My poor sister… Someday she’ll get a shawl. πŸ™‚

I’m also working on a pair of wristwarmers for my Ravyn. I bought a pair for myself (hey, they were on clearance, I couldn’t turn down $3.00 wrist warmers that I didn’t have to knit) and she likes them but they’re too big for her, of course, so I started a pair for her. It’s in self-striping sock yarn that I got on clearance a while ago. So far they’re going well, I just hope they’re big enough for her. :o) I’m not a gauge person, I don’t do samples, I just like to knit and go for it.

Ooh and I’m still not sure if my schedule will let me do this, but I hope so… Knit Michigan is February 3rd and I SOOOO want to do it! If any of my local knitters are planning on doing the Knit Marathon this year please let me know! Or if you just want to go for the Knit & Spin In that would be great too! I just want to go!

Speaking of going… I need to go. Must prettify myself and go dump a bunch of money on overpriced books. *twirls finger in the air*

Happy Knitting. :o)

I’m not getting nearly enough knitting done despite how close we are to Christmas.Β  But, that’s what happens when you’ve got a crazy person living in your house (who is in the process of moving out) and you’re in school and working full time.Β

I did manage to start a new pair of wristwarmers this week.Β  I’m using thisΒ pattern, sorta.Β  I’m using the sock yarn I bought for myself in October because I STILL haven’t started any new socks, but now that I’ve begun making the wrist warmers and I’m seeing how purty the yarn is, I want socks out of it. :opΒ  So I may just have to go back to Threadbear and buy two more balls of it and one day make socks to match my wrist warmers. LOL How tacky would that be?Β  Or maybe I can be crafty and turn the wrist warmer into a sock.Β  I’ve never done top down socks, so I haven’t a clue how to do it, but I’m still on what would be the top of the sock (if I were making socks).Β  I dunno, but I plan on knitting tonight in front of the television as long as I don’t fall asleep first. πŸ˜€Β  It’s cold and rainy out today, perfect for staying in and knitting.

Tomorrow’s the big day for Kristi!Β  Keep her and her boys in your happy thoughts!
