Crack in a skein

So I bought some crack the other day… of course it came in the form of yarn. 🙂

That would be Noro sock yarn. *pauses to sigh* It’s so pretty I can’t wait to use it.

The purple mix is Kureyon.

And the green/blue/grey mix is Silk Garden.

I’ve been coveting this yarn since it first came out on the market but every time I was faced with it in a shop I either couldn’t decide on what color I wanted or I’d tell myself that I already had too much sock yarn sitting at home (which I still do but whatever…). But last week I was having a shitty week and felt like doing a little retail therapy and so I bought these online. 🙂 Ahh…

I probably won’t get to use it until I’m on vacation because frankly I have like next to NO time to knit anymore. Plus I’ve already got a pair of socks on the needles and I haven’t yet been able to talk myself into justifying another WIP. 🙂 That scarf I started in Feb… still not done. The throw that I started a month or so ago… Frogged and started over then stalled. My socks… sock one is to the heel flap but I screwed it up so I had to frog it back and I haven’t picked it up since. And then there’s this…

I can’t tell you what it is because it’s a gift. But the birthday it was for was over a week ago. So yeah. Like I said, no time to knit. But… 33 days til my vacation. 🙂 Wahoo!

In other news, I’ve discovered Christopher Moore’s books and love them. 🙂 He totally cracks me up. I finally saw Star Trek and I’m totally in love/lust with Chris Pine and his pretty eyes. 🙂 I saw Up yesterday with the monsters too and it’s so freaking cute that I can’t put into words how much I loved it. I’m also now half moved from my house into my mom’s house which will prove to be a huge money saver when I can get rid of my house. Plus living here gives me internet access again which I’ve missed horribly! 🙂

Anywho… that’s the skinny. Nothing exciting, just the same old stuff. 🙂

Since we last spoke, there’s been some more knitting at concerts…

So my Backstreet concert last weekend was fabulous. I had a blast and ended up being in the 10th row which wasn’t too shabby (buying tickets through the fan club this year was sort of sketchy and I had no idea where my seats were until I picked up the tickets the day of the show… yikes!). I ended up getting a few really good pictures which made me happy too.

Knitting while waiting for the gates to open…

Alternate Post Titles:
~ Black as my Soul
~ The Rainbow Connection
~ Boobs!

Last night I met up with Blogless Molly for some quality knitting/adult time that was needed by both of us. We had dinner at Panera in the mall and then moved down to Barnes & Noble where we scored two cush chairs near the knitting book section and sat for several hours knitting, browsing books, and laughing like the geeks we are followed by a late night raid of the Meijer craft section. :o)

The first round of giggles began when we saw this book across the room:

The book is described as:
The 420 pages of this book contain the most beautiful and provocative black and white and color photos ever created of these iconic women, plus nine original interviews, including the first with Tempest Storm and Uschi Digard in over a decade, and the last with Candy Barr before her untimely death in 2005. In a world where silicone is now the norm, these spectacular real women stand as testament that nature knows best.

It’s an interesting book to say the least. And the poor 15 year old kid who picked it up later that night and was as shocked to see inside as we were was a freaking hoot. Poor kid, “I’m scarred for life!” hehe… He was adorable.

Boobs aside though, we also saw something else pretty cool from our spot in the store, check it out…

Cool huh? It was huge!

Knitting was also done… I’m almost done with my lastest Bagstopper. I’m addicted to the damn things. :op I’ve gotta do the straps and this one will be done.

My iPod sock was finished last Sunday…

And I plan on casting on for sock #2 of my Happy Florida Socks today. They’ll now be my official Happy Florida & Backstreet Boys Socks though because tonight is concert night. Wee! Yes, ladies and gents… tonight is concert #18. hehe. I’ll be hitting the road shortly and grinning like an idiot for the rest of the weekend basically. :o) After tonight I’m also going to be spending the rest of the weekend with WONDERFUL friends and lots of knitting in one of my favorite parts of the state so it’s bound to be a good one.

Now pardon me as I prepare for The Hotness…

Happy Weekend!

It’s been a while… Last time we spoke I was still in Happy World (aka Florida) and having a blast.

I had a perfectly good (and almost finished) post written up and then my computer decided to freeze up. *kicks it* About a week ago I got this message from Dell saying that I needed to install their support center thingy and ever since I did, I’ve had nothing but trouble… ironic, eh? Anyway, let’s see if I can remember what the hell I said the first time around. 🙂

First of all… how many of you get the Lion Brand newsletter and cracked up over this one?

Bwahaha… seriously? Um yeah… okay, no. Geesh…

I survived my first Black Friday (and Saturday) as a retail worker. 🙂 The shop was uber busy yesterday until about 4:00 and then it was pretty slow, but the sales were quite impressive for the day if you ask me. 🙂 Later in the evening a familiar face came into the shop though quickly followed by the question, “Are we allowed to hug the employees?!” Yes, Miss Kelli aka Knitterbunny was in town to judge a bunny thing this weekend and stopped by to say hi and dig through our yarn at the shop. So I got not one but two Kelli Hugs and that totally made the day!

I did however go home with a wicked migrane last night which didn’t taper off until about 10 this morning, but luckilly I didn’t work today until 1:00 so I was able to get a little bit of painless sleep before I had to be back at work. I reallllly need a massage now though… Today we were pretty darn busy again but it wasn’t quite as crazy as yesterday. I also spent a great deal of time setting up the display for the new Manos del Uruguay Silk Blend yarn which is just purrrrty. 🙂 You can see the colors over at Purl Soho.com, but ours is cheaper so buy it from us instead. 🙂

I don’t really have any knitting content pictures to share, but I can share some stash stuff. 🙂 Last Wednesday I bought myself a treat. I’m now the proud owner of Fergie the Frog. It’s a handy little trinket holder for stitch markers, mini scissors, and other stuff needed while knitting. I wouldn’t have normally spent that much on something to hold stuff in, but I’m a frog lover and well… how could I resist? Plus it’ll be nice because for a while Devin won’t be able to figure out how to get the zipper open and therefore won’t be able to dump my stuff all over the floor. hehe… This picture doesn’t do the color justice, btw.

This lovely yarn is Autunno by Di.ve and it’s all for me. 🙂 I decided I needed a new scarf and perhaps some matching wrist warmers so last week after molesting this yarn I got it.

As for stuff I don’t have pictures of… I bought some Jitterbug (my first ever purchase of the stuff! *gasp*), it’s not for me though… it’ll soon be a pair of Christmas socks for someone special. 🙂 I also bought my first Alpaca… also not for me though. LOL I’m making the Maple Shawl out of a strand of Drops Alpaca held with a strand of Drops Cotton Viscose… should be lovely. Seems like there was something else, but I can’t think of it right now. 🙂 Oh wait, I remember… I bought The Knitter’s Handy Book of Patterns after Suann told me that it was a good one that I needed. We didn’t have it at the shop (we do now though) so I found a used one on Amazon (oh how I love used books!) and it arrived in the mail today. 🙂

Oh and check this out… 🙂 About a month into working at the shop I made myself a Ghetto name tag because I didn’t have a real one. I ganked a name tag that belonged to an ex-employee and covered her name with mine. But my darling Matt finally decided today that I needed a non ghetto one. 🙂

Ghetto Fabulous…

Ghetto Fab...

Thanks, Matt!

Thanksgiving came and went without any major family drama so that was lovely. 🙂 Ravyn and Wesley decorated the dinner table for us this year and made personalized name cards. 🙂 Wesley made mine…

But his was the best of all of them… hehe…

More pictures will be in my photo blog later tonight for your viewing pleasure after I have the chance to upload them. 🙂

And on that note, I’m outta here! I might do some charity knitting with Sarah and the other Guild Girls tomorrow, but that depends on the status of my poor neck and back tomorrow. 🙂

Happy Knitting!

I finally made it back to The Shop yesterday to knit. As soon as I walked in the door I both remembered why I’ve missed being there so much, as well as why I haven’t been going there so much. It’s hard to say at this point which of the two is going to win and to be totally honest… that really sucks.

Knit Night at Shawn’s was lovely though and I got to the heel flap of my second sock. Woo! Oh and Blogless Emily let me borrow her copy of this month’s Book Club book (“The Knitting Circle” by Ann Hood) so I can read it really fast before Sunday. Thanks, Blogless Emily! 🙂

6 <– That’s a message from Devin. hehe

“All new!”

We all know I’m a weird cookie… it’s just common knowledge. But I’ve been sitting here at my mother’s house watching TNT with her for the past few hours (because that is pretty much the only channel she ever watches. Ever.) and something’s bugging me. It’s the phrase “all new.” As in “You’re watching an all new Heartland. Next week an all new Heartland. Coming up next an all new Closer followed by an all new Saving Grace.”

All new, as opposed to a half new episode or a quarter new episode? Cause yeah, we sure get a lot of those. *rolls eyes* Of course it’s new, but all new? Geesh!

Like I said, I’m a strange cookie.

I’m a strange cookie who knits but unfortunately has a dead camera battery and a lost charger so no pictures to share. I finished a strap for my felted bag I posted about last night. Haven’t attached it yet, but I might do it tonight. I’ve also made it to the leg of my current sock. For some weird reason I chose to do a ribbed leg… so much slower than just a plain leg. But, it’s pretty.

Other than that, I haven’t really been doing much else craft-wise. No jewlery, no stitch markers, and no other knitting. Just my sock and my bag. I still want to do a sweater and even have a pattern but haven’t the cash to buy a sweater’s worth of yarn, so it’ll wait for now.

Oh… I read a somewhat knitting related book last week. “Knitting Under the Influence.” It’s a cute book. The knitting content isn’t huge, but so what, it’s a novel and it’s not about knitting, it’s about three women who are friends and they all knit. 🙂 I liked it. I’ve seen a lot of people complain that there’s not enough knitting in the book but what I think is this… if you want a book with a bunch of knitting content in it, read a pattern book. It’s not like when I go to knit with friends that alllll we talk about is knitting, so why should a book about knitting friends be allll about knitting? *nods* Exactly. 🙂

Anywho… happy knitting to all of you. I’m off.
