Magic

So remember how I posted about the Harry Potter socks turning out too small for my pal? Well, last night my girl Shawn tried the socks on and they fit her just fine. Shawn’s a size 10. I’m a size 8.5 and my swap pal is a 9.5. Know what this means, folks? I’m sending these badboys to my swap pal! If they fit Shawn okay then they should fit my mystery Hogwarts pal just fine. And… this means the yummy Ravenclaw yarn I bought from Woolgirl is all MINE! *bwahahahahahahahahahaaaaaa!* *grins*

Not much knitting news… I’m working on the second sock for the above mentioned swap, and I’ve been making heaps of jewlery again. This weekend a bunch of the Wednesday afternoon knitters (Kristy of Red Dog Knits, Dirty Sue, Blogless Emily and Blogless Laura, and I) are going on a knitting getaway to St. Joe. We’ll be loading up Sue’s truck with wine, yarn, needles, munchies and whatever else we might need for the trip tomorrow evening and then will be back Sunday. Bliss! I’m sure I’ll have pictures to share by the time we get home. 😀

Speaking of this trip o’ joy… I need to go to the grocery store for wine and sunscreen. 🙂 See ya!

Fudge Nuts!

Tonight while browsing for books at Schuler’s I came across a display that both excited me and then made me spew a few “bad words.” It was a countdown to the new Harry Potter book. The featured number of the day was 29. Which means that now that it’s after midnight, the number is now 28 days. I have 28 days to finish my socks for my pal. This shouldn’t be a problem except for the fact that I finished the first sock last week and it’s TOO SMALL FOR MY PAL! *head:desk* I used a bigger size and even waited longer to begin the toe and yet the sock winded up being perfect for my size 8.5 foot and not so perfect for my pal and her 9.5 size feet. *whines more* I do not have the patience nor the skills to rip out the sock in order to add length to it. So this means that I’m going to have to keep this pair for myself and make a new pair for my pal. Many people seem to think that I purposely screwed the sock up so that I could keep them myself. I swear to you this isn’t the truth. I really would love to know these socks would fit my pal.

Darn cute though, huh?

So yeah… 28 days. *grumbles* Crappity crap crap crapsters.

A bit of happiness though… Kristi, Sue and Blogless Emily and I are running away for the weekend next weekend to knit and enjoy each other’s company on the shores of Lake Michigan. Wee!

Yesterday I got a wonnnnnderful surprise in the mail. Imagine my glee to get not only fun mail but mail all the way from Singapore! At first I was a little worried because my package was in this nifty plastic bag from the Singapore Post claiming that my package had been damaged…
Rut ro!

But… there was just a slight hole in the top of the package though so I think I ended up with everything still in there. My goodies:
Yay!!

I got a pair of socks (duh, it was a sock swap LOL), a beret, stitch markers, Brittany dpn’s, straights with Wizard Hat toppers, Tea (which matches my house colors! Too cute), Mini Tarot Cards, really cool swirly hair thingies, two hair clips, and a bracelet in my house colors with cat beads. 🙂

And just to prove that Oscar was there looking on as I opened my package…
Oscar loves knitting too

A close up of my knitting needles with Wizard Hat toppers…
So cute!

The socks are reversible… how cool!
Neat!

And check this out…
Ooh la la!

Can you guess which Hogwarts house I’m in? 🙂 I LOVE all of my stuff! It’s so cool! Despite the fact that I’ve been knitting for several years, I’ve never actually received a knitted gift before, let alone two made just for me all the way from Singapore! I’m sooo glad I joined this Sock Swap. Thank you SO much Chrissie!

I’m still working on my first sock for my pal… LOL but it’s coming along nicely. See? I worked on it on the way to Cedar Point last week. 🙂 I’m on the heel right now (I worked on them last night so this picture is slighly out of date, but it’s close!)

And… I made my pal her stich markers too last week. Aren’t they cute? I really want to keep them. LOL 🙂
