Check out the beauty that is my first completed Noro sock. Yeah, I still wish I’d done an afterthought heel but too freaking bad. I’m a frog lover not a frogger. hehe

Finished!!

In other yarny news… I learned how to dye yarn today and am in LOVE!!

Look at the COLOR!!

Look at the COLOR!!

That’s just one of my pretties… I have a feeling I’ll be doing a lot of dyeing this summer and that sock blanket that stalled last summer will be revived. 🙂

Scraps

Okay so I’ve been thinking WAY too much about this whole sock yarn blanket. I simply haven’t made enough socks to have enough scraps for this blanket. I have lots of sock yarn but it was all bought for duh… making socks! LOL So I either have to knit a bunch of socks in order to have scraps, buy a bunch of sock yarn specifically for the blanket, or… I can beg. *nods*

So I’m begging…

Do you have sock yarn scraps that you’re keeping just because you can’t throw them out?
Do you want to contribute to a project but not have to actually knit anything?
Do you love me?

If you can answer yes to any of those questions, and you have spare sock yarn scraps around that you’d like to donate to me, let me know! 🙂 I’m looking for sock weight yarn, any color, preferably superwash, but I’m not that picky. Donors will not only get my undying love, but also some sort of hand crafted knitish goodness from me as a thank you (i.e. stitch markers, mini scissors with beaded cord, etc.).

If you know my e-mail address, hit me up. If you don’t know my e-mail address, comment and I’ll e-mail you.

Thanks!

WIP: Mama Socks

Photobucket

One down, one to go… fits her perfectly and she’s rather geeked to be finally getting her own pair of hand knit socks so I guess that it’s worth giving up the pretty yarn to her. 🙂

This is my first ever after-thought heel and it worked out pretty well if you ask me. 🙂 We’ll see how it wears! 🙂

In other knitting… I’m still making those darn mini mitered squares out of sock yarn for a blanket… I’m addicted. Maybe by the time it’s blanket sized I’ll have a kid of my own to use it on. LOL It’s smaller than it would be, but I ripped out all of the blocks I’d made before because I decided to be sensible and use bigger needles so I started from scratch. Purty though isn’t it?

Anywho… that’s all for now. The Biggby’s that I’m at is closing early tonight so I’ve gotta get out. 🙂

Because my attention span lately is much like that of a gnat… my number of projects on the needles keeps growing as does the amount of time I find myself frogging a project because I “don’t like the pattern” (translation: I fucked it up and can’t fix it. lol)

My newest project is the Catch the Wave Afghan. See, I was at my mother’s house last night… and I decided that the bag of yarn, neddles and other knitting supplies that I gave her a few years ago (which has since sat in her closet unused) was going home with me. I have plans for a fabulous scarf out of two of the yarns because I once made my sister in law a scarf out of the same stuff and wanted to keep it SO bad. 🙂 But in addition to that, there were two or three things of Lion Brand Homespun. It’s torture to work with, but it’s very soft and very pretty. So I checked out the Homespun patterns at the LB website and yup… Catch the Wave it is.

Then of course are the socks I’ve been working on. I’m on the heel flap of sock #2. Can’t wait to finally wear the socks. All mine! Mine!

I started a scarf the other day that will soon be frogged because the needles I used were too big for the pattern and yarn.

Finally, there’s the ongoing quest to finally make a shawl/wrap for my sister. I frogged the Feather and Fan swatch that I began last weekend, tried a different pattern that drove me nuts, and now I’m pretty sure I’m going to go back to the Feather and Fan in the larger needles.

In other knitting news… I taught Ravyn to knit on Friday. We were sitting on the couch watching some movie and I was knitting the above mentioned scarf. She kept saying, “So how do you do that?” And eventually she raided her mother’s knitting stash and came back with needles and yarn to use. She’s been practicing all weekend and although she doesn’t totally have it right, she does more stitches correctly than she does them incorrectly. 🙂 I want to get her some kid needles. I know that Lion Brand has some Kid Needles that I’ve seen in the stores. I think those might help. The needles she’s been using are crappy. They’re metal and slippery.

Last but not least, I went to my first meeting of the knitters book club yesterday. It was a lovely time, a good book, and I look forward to the next meeting! 🙂

And now… it’s too freaking hot to sit here with the laptop. So I’m outta here. Maybe I’ll… knit! 🙂
